Do I need an appointment to visit your showroom?
It is recommended to call ahead to ensure we are available to assist you in this very important decision.
What is the difference between an undermount and a top mount sink?
A top mount sink is a traditional sink where it drops in and the rim of the sink sits directly on the countertop. An undermount sink is mounted to the underside of the countertop, so you can wipe directly into the sink.
What is Quartz?
Quartz surfaces are manufactured from up to 93% quartz and high-quality polymer resins and pigments that are compacted into slabs.
What is Quartzite?
Quartzite is a metamorphic rock, which was originally sandstone. It is softer than granite, but is chosen due to its uniqueness.
Will this be a messy process?
Please be advised, there is a certain amount of dust created when drilling holes, but our stone installers will do everything possible to keep your home clean. Due to safety reasons, installers must wear work boots during the installation or your stone product.
What is a template?
A template is a pattern made of your future countertops that will be used to produce your countertop to your specifications.
What are your lead times?
Lead times can vary, we recommend you discuss this with our representatives and we will accomodate you in every way possible.
What information do I need for an estimate?
For an accurate estimate, we would need your personal information including name, address, phone number, fax number and/or email address. We would also need specific dimensions of the areas you want quoted (Countertop Project Sketch), the sink type (top mount versus undermount) and name of material (if decided). You can use the Request a Quote form, fax, email, or simply bring in the information.
How often do I need to seal my stone countertops?
You will need to seal your stone countertops at least once a year. Depending upon the type of stone and usage, it may need to be sealed more often. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
How do I clean my countertops?
We recommend purchasing special cleaners for stone products. Please give us a call as we do carry such a product.
How do I know if I need to seal my granite?
One method you can use to check if your granite needs to be resealed is to sprinkle some water on your countertops. If the water soaks into the stone and does not bead up, then we would recommend resealing your granite. Most kitchens need to be resealed about once a year.
Can I set hot things on my stone countertops?
We recommend that you DO NOT place hot things such as hot pots directly on any countertop.
How can I determine my real bottom line cost?
While considering which product to go with and comparing prices, know that the following contributes to price: square footage; edge profile; layout; fancy details; type of sink; drilling to accomodate hardware; and stove/cooktop (depending on style).
Will my countertop have a seam?
We try hard to avoid seams, but due to size and bonding limitations, seams on a countertop are necessary. Pacific Stone Fabrication will determine aesthetic seam placement. Color matching is not always possible at seam area, due to shading and the flow of the grain.
How is the seam placement determined on my stone countertops?
Seams are determined by Pacific Stone; depending on countertop layout. Access to the job site (ie. hallways and elevators) will also determine seam placement.
Where does the stone products come from?
The stone products come from quarries all over the world.
What is the advantage of granite countertops?
Granite is the best natural surface used for countertops. Its natural beauty allows you to have a countertop that can not be duplicated.
What is Etching?
Limestone and Marble are a type of stone that reacts with acidic liquids. Even light contact with weak acidic liquids like fruit juice, wine, vinegar, some cleaners, etc. will deteriorate the finish enough to create a "dull" appearance. Heavier contact and longer time can actually eat depressions into the surface. If this has occured to you, please feel free to contact us, as there may be a way to improve or even fix the problem.
